Lee's bathroom and laundry refresh
Nothing dates a house more than bold coloured joinery that smacks of a particular era.
As part of a full home refresh for Lee and Bryce, we updated the laundry and bathrooms with some creative thinking.
The space was given a face lift without needing to rip things out and start again.
Before
Here’s what we started with…TEAL joinery that was really popular in its day, but not anymore!
WHAT WE CHANGED AND WHY
The spaces worked well, and the only real issue Lee had was the overwhelming amount of teal!
We had a specialty coating* in Resene Double White Pointer applied to the cupboards - a fresh neutral that felt neither too cream nor too grey.
The teal tiles really pop against the neutral, and now feel quite timeless when not paired with the teal joinery, and now the three updated spaces feel fresh and inviting.
In the guest bathroom there was also a teal bench top which we had resurfaced in a mid-grey which adds a nice level of contrast, and looks great against the teal tiles, and the neutral joinery.
In the laundry we had a bi-fold door built and installed across the triangular cupboard to hide away all the cleaning products, and make it a more inviting guest bathroom.
We completed the refresh by installing new venetian blinds in an off-white. Job done!
(*If you’re curious - the specialty coatings are incredibly durable - much more so than painted cupboards. They are products specifically designed for wet areas, and for adhering to any type of surface).
I’ll be posting more before and after photos of this inspiring home transformation - every change we made considered their needs and wants, and worked where possible with what they already had.
This sustainable approach to interior design not only makes their renovation budget stretch further - but keeps unnecessary rubbish out of the landfill - win!
